|Burton “Burt” Colling, 86, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, with family by his side.
Born to George and Earthel Colling on July 14, 1927, he served with the US Army-Air Force in 1946 where he was stationed mainly in the Philippines. Burt was a skilled Tinsmith and general metal worker. In the 1980’s, he was part of a missionary group that traveled to Zimbabwe, Africa to help build a Methodist University. Burt was a proud graduate of SUNY Oswego College where he received his degree in Elementary Education at the age of 50. He was a member of the Phoenix Masons and VFW, Fulton Elks Club, Phoenix and Palermo United Methodist Church and he currently attended Redeemer Covenant Church in Liverpool. Burt is predeceased by his sister Shirley Colling. He is survived by his long time friend and caregiver, Margaret Milone and her children and grandchildren; sons Burton (Connie) and David Colling; daughter Patricia (Gary) Ryan and Cindy (William) Neivel; brother George Colling; sister Agnes Shaben; grandchildren Keith, Karen, Matthew, Brandon, Bekki, Michael, Amber, and Leaha; five great grandchildren; and loving dogs Buttons and Sophie. Services to be held at a later date.
