“R.L.” or “Denny,” as he was fondly called by all that loved him, 78, of Lakeport, passed away peacefully with family by his side. He was born in Syracuse on December 20, 1934, the youngest son of William and Jane Dennis. He married his High School sweetheart, Marlene A. Hoey, and they shared 55 wonderful years together. He worked for many years as an operating engineer for Dygert Construction Co., and was a conductor for, and retired from, Consolidated Rail Co. He also served in the United States Army. He enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, traveling with family, and loved his home on the lake. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all he met, and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Jerry and Charlie; his sister, Dorothy; and his nieces, Patty and Karen.
Surviving are, his loving wife, Marlene; his children, Denise (Parker) Stone, Richard (Sherry) Dennis, Mary Beth (Bill) Bonnell; his grandchildren, Parker, Brandon, Alexis, Samantha, Paige, Marissa, and Katherine; two sisters, Sue and Irene; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church, in East Syracuse, Tuesday at 10:30 am.
