Herbert Vincent Grimm, (86), of Bridgeport, New York, passed away on April 24, 2024. Herbert, fondly known as Herbie and Papa, was born on January 15, 1938, in Hornell, New York. After graduating from High School, he joined the Navy and then settled in the Syracuse area. Herbie retired from New Process Gear and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement.
In addition to his partner, Linda Dines, he is survived by his four children, Jeff Grimm (Tonyia), Leslie Ball (Darren), James Grimm (Wendy), and Michele Grimm and his sister Rosemary Loveland (Don). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 52 years, Edna Grimm, his brother Francis Grimm, and his sister Peggy Palmeter.
While he was still working, Herbie enjoyed spending time at his home on Oneida Lake, boating and playing cards. He always loved hosting the family’s annual clam bake and getting together with friends and family. Throughout his retirement, Herbie enjoyed spending his time fishing, golfing, bowling, visiting the casino and playing pitch. He was a diehard fan of Syracuse University teams and the NY Giants, whether they were having a winning season or not.
Calling hours for Herbie will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Traub Funeral Home, Inc., Bridgeport, New York 13030. Funeral services will be 10:00am on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the funeral home, 7975 Route 31. Private burial will be in Oneida Lake Cemetery.
